UPCOMING NEW PENSION ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM (NPAS) INFORMATION

OP&F pension system transition tips

Please share this information with your mayor or city manager.

Dear Valued Employer Partners -

As shared in recent Employer Bulletins, OP&F is preparing to launch a new, modernized pension administration system in the fall of 2026, replacing the platform we have used for more than 20 years. Over the past year, we have collaborated with employer working groups representing large, medium, and small agencies to gather feedback and support a smooth transition.

In partnership with Alight Retiree Solutions, we are developing a system that will introduce updated processes for submitting payroll and related data. The new platform is designed to be more intuitive, improve efficiency for HR and fiscal staff, and provide an enhanced employer portal supported by dedicated assistance.

Key milestones include:

January 2026: Reporting specifications released to employers

Spring 2026: System testing with employer working groups

Fall 2026: October Target launch date

Training: Comprehensive, no‑cost training—including in‑person sessions at multiple Ohio locations—will be offered before launch.

Our Employer Services Group will remain available throughout this transition. We recognize that system changes require preparation, and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way. Please begin identifying the staff members who will participate in training and system testing and start reviewing your internal processes in preparation for the transition. Additional details will be shared in the coming months. We have included a tip sheet to assist you in preparing. To view our transition tips please click here.

OP&F Work History Report Specifications

OP&F is pleased to share the updated Work History Report file specifications. These specifications outline the new reporting format, including employment‑related data fields that will be required once the new system launches in Fall 2026.

Please share these specifications found by clicking here with your payroll and HR teams and begin reviewing any updates that may be needed to prepare for the transition. Additional guidance, testing information, and training resources will be provided in the coming months.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work to deliver a modern, efficient system that supports your important role. For questions or assistance, contact the OP&F Employer Services Group at employernpas@op-f.org or 1-888-864-8363 option 4.
